Melting in Arizona and Loving It.

I just wanted to tell you all a little bit about where we live. The Valley of the Sun. So even if you are reading this in November I can almost guarantee that it is sunny here in Phoenix. It’s sunny an average of 299 days out of the year and that is why my daughter and I live here. It is because we can go to the splash pad in December because it is still in the high 70’s and we can go out on the boat to Saguaro Lake in March because the average temperature is 79 degrees. We love that we can have Thanksgiving dinner out on the patio in our shorts and tank tops.

We usually get about 110 days during the summer that are well over 100 degrees and last year (2016) we had a record amount of 110 degree days so we spent most of those days in the water somewhere like a pool or lake or river. Now don’t get me wrong it does get cold in Arizona up in Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon but here in Phoenix the average temperature is 87 degrees and it’s wonderful.

I will talk a lot about hiking and boating and splash pads because that is where we spend most of our time. You see in Arizona we have 9 months of awesomeness, unlike most states where they have to stay inside for the winter well we stay inside for the summer. You see it sucks to get into a hot car and melt just as much as it sucks to shovel 3 feet of snow off your car. Which I have done both. But I choose to have to buy new tires almost every year because they dry rot because of the heat than to have to deal with the winter. Yuk!

  1. This is lovely! I love Arizona and can’t wait to travel there soon.

  2. I’ve always wanted to visit Arizona- almost took a travel nurse contract there once. Still might in the future! I mostly love NY- summers are bliss. But unfortunately we have 6 months of cold and clouds and that just about does me in each year! Lovely post.
